Officer Duties and Responsibilities *

Gold LEAF Institute Senior College

The following officer positions are elected by the members for a one-year term, in accordance with the by-laws:

The President
  • Presides over all membership and Executive Board meetings
  • Supervised personnel at the Gold LEAF office
  • Acts as spokesperson for the organization
  • Is a member of all committees (except nominating)
  • May represent GLI at conferences
  • Executes requirements cited in the GLI By-laws

The First Vice-President
  • Takes over the duties of the President when necessary
  • Attends Executive Board meetings
  • Is liaison to the Curriculum Committee
  • Assists the president, if necessary

The Second Vice-President
  • Does the tasks of the First Vice-President if necessary
  • Chairs the Nominating Committee
  • Attends Executive Board meetings
  • Assists the president, if necessary

The Secretary
  • Records the minutes of all GLI meetings
  • Publishes minutes and notifies members of future meetings
  • Is responsible for the record keeping of membership data
  • Takes charge of correspondence required by the Executive Board
  • Attends all Executive Board and Annual meetings
  • Is liaison to the Membership & Promotion Committee

The Treasurer
  • Collects and receives all monies due or belonging to GLI
  • Maintains accounts through the University business Office
  • Keeps books open at all times to the inspection of the Executive Board
  • Leads GLI in the formation of the budget
  • Delivers financial reports at Executive Board and Annual meetings
  • Serves as ex-officio member of the Administration & Finance Committee
  • Attends all Executive Board and Annual meetings

The Ombusdman (Member-At-Large)
  • Attends all Executive Board and Annual meetings
  • Represents members' interest at all meetings
  • Is liaison to the Special Events Committee
  • Assists the president, if necessary
